Gilmore Girls Project: A Year in the Life ~ Winter

A Year in the Life

Episode One: “Winter”

Original Airdate: November 25, 2016

Fresh from a career high, Rory pays a visit to Stars Hollow. Emily copes with Richard’s death. The inn keeps Lorelai busy as she ponders her future.

Let me preface these next four posts with the fact that I have a love/hate relationship with the revival. First the fact one important cast member, ie, Sookie, is missing sucks!! They should have made sure that the actress could have done the show. Period. Plus, I feel the writer, Amy Sherman-Palladino, used these four episodes to get her last four word ending, but did so in a way that left the fans on a cliffhanger. I’m glad she got her words in, but she screwed us all in the process. Thanks a lot.

Second, I think the writers tried too hard and veered WAY off course with the original premise of the show. The characters that were there were different. Lorelai was different. Michel was suddenly gay and married to a man. Luke was still the same, but Rory was a complete 180 from how she was in the TV show. All over the place, forgetting her boyfriend Paul, and thirty-two and nothing to show for her Yale degree.

I’m sure there are more annoyances, but I will just start off with those two.

Aside from that there are some wonderful scenes. Like all the scenes with Kirk and his Ooober. The one in Luke’s was the best where Lorelai throws a bagel at him, but I couldn’t find that one on You tube. Or Luke giving everyone different WiFi passwords.

Then there were the awful parts of it like this scene. Ugh. It was crushing.

I know you are expecting funny quotes, but the format wouldn’t work when I copied and pasted them in. So no quotes.

So what did you all think of this episode? What are your thoughts on the revival?
