Episode One Hundred Forty-Two: “Santa’s Secret Stuff”

Big problem. An XXL-sized Lane fears motherhood means the end of personhood. Big secret. Lorelai writes Luke a character reference for his custody case . . . but doesn’t tell Christopher.

My Lane got big fast. I know she has two in there, but when my sister was pregnant with twins she wasn’t even half Lane’s size. I know it was probably meant to be funny, but that poor actress!

And, speaking about acting . . . I don’t think more words have ever been said in 30 seconds of TV ever.

But back to the episode. Nothing really happens in this episode. Lane freaks out about her drums being put in the closet while two cribs are sitting where they used to sit. Lorelai keeps the character reference for Luke a secret from Christopher, and the girls celebrate Christmas weeks after the actual holiday.

I do have to say I think this is the first season where I haven’t seen snow during the winter episodes. I can imagine having snow is expensive, but I always loved those episodes since we don’t get much snow in Oklahoma. Last year we got a ton, but in the years before we haven’t.

APRIL: Well I biked over because… [sees Lane] oh, my gosh. Lane is gigantic.
LUKE: Yeah well I wouldn’t mention that to Lane.
APRIL: Hey did you know the gestation period for an elephant is 22 months?
LUKE: Yeah will I wouldn’t mention that to Lane, either.
