Gilmore Girls Project: Season Three, Happy Birthday, Baby

Season Three

Episode Sixty-One: “Happy Birthday, Baby”

Original Airdate: April 22, 2003

Mama Mia! Rory plans to honor her birthday-girl mother with a big party and an even bigger pizza. Richard has a greater surprise: and investment he made for Lorelai at her birth just paid off.

So even though we know Jess is lying and isn’t going to school “enough” as he claims, I have to say he’s actually somewhat normal in this episode instead his usual standoffish, rude, and sarcastic way. Just when he’s starting to change that’s when the boom is lowered though. I can feel it. It’s coming.

The only part that irks me about this episode is the way that Lorelai paid her parents back for Chilton with that money and now their obligation to Friday Night dinners is done. Once again she goes on this huge rant of how awful her parents have always been to her and she just needs to be free of them, blah blah blah.

And, I agree that to give them a check out of the blue at her birthday dinner was a bit rude. She should have done it differently. Not to mention, she should have said they would continue the dinners. I mean, it’s dinner. Why is seeing them once a week so difficult?

Aside from that, though, can I just say I wish my kids would make me the worlds biggest pizza for my birthday!

So what did you think of this episode?

Funny Quotes:

Jackson: I have got a sobbing pregnant woman at home, which is not unusual except this time I didn’t cause it!

Rory: Hey, can you stash this at your house till the party? It’s just favors and stuff.
Lane: Ironic, isn’t it? You having to hide stuff at my house for a change.
Rory: Life has come full circle.
