Season Three
Episode Fifty-Five: “Lorelai Out of Water”
Original Airdate: January 28, 2003
Alex invites Lorelai on a fishing trip. Sounds like fun . . . except Lorelai doesn’t know which end of the pole to hold. Enter Luke, the Izaak Walton of Stars Hollow. Paris tries to impeach Rory.
Anyone else think it’s creepy that Zack, from Lane’s band has a crush on Lorelai in this episode? Like seriously, dude, she’s 10-15 years older than you. I know in real life she’s probably not or that in the show she doesn’t look it, but EEWW!!
And moving on. Oh, super. It’s the introduction to Nicole, the lawyer that Luke dates for a brief time. Just like Jason Digger Styles when Lorelai went out with him, I didn’t like Nicole either. I never really saw the point with her and I don’t know what they even had in common. The actress has a unique voice, which I liked to listen to, but her character just annoyed me.
I enjoy seeing a “Kim Family Wedding” too and seeing Lane and Rory get the bride ready. Poor thing, doesn’t speak a lick of English and she’s marrying someone she’s never met. And it is cute that Luke teaches Lorelai to fish and I love that she later puts the fish in her bathtub after naming them.
The only crummy part of the episode is how Paris is still mad at Rory and tries to impeach her. I know the fight doesn’t last long, but again, just as I said yesterday, I don’t like it when they are fighting. Just doesn’t seem right.
So what are your thoughts on this episode?
Funny Quotes:
Rory: (very sleepy) You set my alarm for 5:15 AM.
Lorelai: I know, and I did it for purely practical reasons.
Rory: Which are?
Lorelai: My alarm is just not as reliable as your scream.
Luke: So tell me something, what’s it like being Taylor’s lawyer?
Miss Leahy: Well actually I’m not Mr. Doose’s lawyer or only lawyer. He’s one of our clients. So all our attorneys deal with him on a rotating basis. It’s my month.
Luke: My condolences.
Miss Leahy: You know my father always told me that whatever does not kill you makes you stronger.
Luke: You’re gonna be really strong.
