Season One
Episode Two: “The Lorelais’ First Day at Chilton.”
Original Airdate: October 12, 2000
You get extra points if you sing the school sone–in latin. Chilton isn’t a place where cutoffs and cowboy books are the fashion. But that’s what Lorelai hurriedly throws on to accompany Rory to the posh school.
My thoughts:
Okay, well, the first thought that always comes to my mind with this episode is why Lorelai picked the outfit she did to take Rory to school. I know it was for the comical part of the show, however, I don’t buy it for one second that ALL of her clothes were at the cleaners, and considering she pretty much wears a couple of different outfits every episode, there is no way she could only have a pair of cut off short and a pink shirt lying around the house. Especially when we never see either of those pieces of clothing ever again in the show.
Just something I noticed over the many years of watching the series over and over.
I do love that we are introduced to Kirk. Although, he’s not Kirk in this episode but instead he is Mick the DSL installer. I’m so glad they found that actor a role, though, because I don’t know if GG would be the same without Kirk.
What you do think? Do you think it would have been the same without him?
Some funny quotes:
Luke: (getting her coffee) Do you want to know what this stuff does to your central nervous system?
Lorelai: Ooh, do you have a chart? ‘Cause I love charts.
Emily: But there are five days in a school week.
Lorelai: Really? Are you sure? Because my days-of-the-week underwear only go to Thursday.
Lorelai: (glances at her fuzzy clock) This is the last time I buy anything just because it’s furry.
Lorelai: You are an amazing kid. You have earned this. You just go in there and show them what smart really is. I love you. Just call me if you need me.
Rory: You’re kidding, right?
Lorelai: No. Call me if you need anything. I’m great at making up dirty cheers.
