My favorite months of the year . . . #Autumn #Fall #Harvest

Fall, Autumn, Harvest—whatever you call it, it doesn’t matter. I love it.

It’s my favorite time of the year, my favorite season. When I lived in my hometown the Fall usually started somewhere in September. Cooler air, the changing of the leaves, the crispness in the mornings when you walk out the door on your way to school or work. Sure, most days by the afternoon you were regretting your choice in putting on that sweater, but still, as the days passed so did the afternoon heat.

In the state I live in now; however, all mentioned above doesn’t really start until October. September is still hot, so hot that it makes the State Fair almost miserable enough to not go. Around the start of October, though, the air seems to get a little cooler, the leaves start to change color, and there is that crispness outside that when you step out the door, you just know it’s Fall.

October, November, and December are my favorite months of the year. Even with the snow, even with the ice storms, even with having to bucket water to the farm animals and feed hay instead of letting them graze on the pasture, I love it. I supposed a lot of it has to do with the holidays. From Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Years, the holiday season is just such a special time of year.

It’s a time to cozy up in your house, eat delicious stews and soups that are too hot for the Summer, wear fuzzy socks and thick warm robes in the morning while you sip your coffee and watch the sunrise. Kids dress up for trick or treating. Families get together to give thanks over a large meal and dazzling red, green, blue, and yellow lights light up houses and trees all over neighborhoods, and we celebrate with the ones we love as the old year becomes a memory that fades into the hopes and dreams for a whole New Year.

Yes, it’s just a magical few months.

And, not to mention, utterly beautiful. I’m definitely a happy camper right now!
