Out of all my bread recipes this one is always devoured by the kids the most.
Of course, while you can add in Pecans, Walnuts, and or Raisins to this recipe for added flavor, you could also add in come cooked apple slices to give it a more apple pie bread flavor.
For that, just slice up peeled apples and cook them in a little bit of sugar and cinnamon until soft like you would for an apple pie. I haven’t tried that, but now I think I might.
- 1 cup of Packed Brown Sugar
- 1 cup of Applesauce
- 3 egg whites
- 3 tablespoons of Milk
- 2 cups of Flour
- 1 teaspoon of Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of Salt
- 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of chopped Apple, Pecans, Raisins, or Walnuts (Optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and coat your bread pan with nonstick spray or oil. Mix the sugar, applesauce, egg whites, and milk in one bowl. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Combine the two bowls and gently stir in the nuts or raisins if desired. Bake 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Serve and enjoy!
