Writing a novel

A Blogger Recognition Award #author #blogger #writing #amwriting

I was nominated for this lovely award from the talented Cheryl Fassett, creator of Catching Fireflies and author of Far Away and Ever After. Don’t pass on checking out her website and blog!

So how did my blog get started? Well, since I was a budding writer, I knew I had to create and build a platform. We’re told this from day one. You want to write and sell books? Start a blog. So I did. And I have to say that the first two years I sucked at it. I wasn’t consistent with my posts. I didn’t follow many blogs in return, let alone read or comment on them. I wasn’t trying to be rude, I just had so little time to spare with working a full time job, taking care of young kid, being a  wife, trying to run a farm and household, and most importantly, trying to get my debut novel finished.

Over the years, though, this blog has gone through a few changes. Some have worked, some haven’t. But I think I’ve finally got it exactly where I want it for now.

What are my two pieces of advice to new bloggers?

Be consistent. When you figure out how many times you want to post a week and what you want to say, stick to it. Changing or not posting hardly at all will not help you build a following.

And above all, have fun with it.

The rules of this award for my nominees:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your award.
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Select 5 other bloggers for this award.
  6. Comment on each blog to let them know you nominated them and link to the post you created.
  7. Add Blogger Recognition Award to your post

My Nominees for Blogger Recognition:

Perceptions by One ~ Regina Walker, the perception of a Jesus girl, wife, a mom, a writer where I find inspiration.

Lori’s Lane ~ Lori Virelli, just an extraordinary blog where I’ve found a wonderful friend who I haven’t ever met in person . . . YET!

Small Home, Close Family, a wonderful blog I found while researching living life in an RV touring the country (a secret dream of mine that I would love to make a reality).

The Romantic Vineyard, a wonderful blog I’ve been following for years who share rich ideas to help a marriage grow.

Carrie Pulkinen, a talented paranormal romance author who I met through a mutual friend and I’ve enjoyed watching her grow her own blog.
