So how did my blog get started? Well, since I was a budding writer, I knew I had to create and build a platform. We’re told this from day one. You want to write and sell books? Start a blog. So I did. And I have to say that the first two years I sucked at it. I wasn’t consistent with my posts. I didn’t follow many blogs in return, let alone read or comment on them. I wasn’t trying to be rude, I just had so little time to spare with working a full time job, taking care of young kid, being a wife, trying to run a farm and household, and most importantly, trying to get my debut novel finished.
Over the years, though, this blog has gone through a few changes. Some have worked, some haven’t. But I think I’ve finally got it exactly where I want it for now.
What are my two pieces of advice to new bloggers?
Be consistent. When you figure out how many times you want to post a week and what you want to say, stick to it. Changing or not posting hardly at all will not help you build a following.
And above all, have fun with it.
