We are not here to “decorate graves.” We’re here to remember not their deaths, but their lives.”—Karen Worcester, Executive Director of Wreaths Across America
On December 17, 2016, Wreaths Across America will be at Arlington National Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes.
They encourage every volunteer who places a wreath on a veteran’s grave to say that veteran’s name aloud and take a moment to thank them for their service to our country. It’s a small act that goes a long way toward keeping the memory of our veterans alive.
There are multiple ways to donate and help such a wonderful cause. Not only can you sponsor a wreath, but you could volunteer to lay them, you could donate a truck to haul the wreaths to Arlington, you can add in one of your local cemeteries where people can lay wreaths for the local vets, or you can start a fundraiser to help WAA make their goal.
Each year, 245,000 wreaths are needed just for Arlington. The number only grows when you figure in local gravesites. The cost of the wreaths are:
- 1 for $15.00
- 2 for $30.00
- 5 for $75.00
- 10 for $150.00
- Or you can chose another amount to donate.
Please consider donating to this wonderful organization who does this every year for an amazing cause.
