Homeschool Curriculum Review ~ Time4Learning #homeschooling #homeschool #mom #mommy #momslife

In gearing up to do my review for this year’s new program, I realized that I never did a review on the program I used the first two years I homeschooled my oldest. *thunks head into desk*

FAIL!

When I first pulled my oldest out of school, I have to admit that I kind of did it on an angered whim. I was starting to get more unhappy with the education she was getting and one afternoon, there was an instance that pretty much was “the straw that broke the camels back”.

While I was a homeschool novice and really knew nothing about it except for the research I had done, I did have several friends who homeschooled at the time and I knew I’d be surrounded in support.

thOf course, I researched tons of programs and book, but all of them seemed to blend into one another and it was so confusing. It was then I decided to look up online programs and that’s when I found Time4Learning.

All in all, the Kindergarten program was good. It taught all the subjects in easy to learn, short lessons. My daughter seemed to enjoy it and aside from a couple of times it bugged me since it had some common core, at the end of the year, I decided to use it for 1st grade, too.

The second year was good, just as the first. It was easy to figure out monthly lesson plans so that my daughter could complete the whole year on time and aside from, once again, a little bit of common core in math, it taught her a complete 1st grade curriculum.

thXN9EBUI5The only downfall of the program is it’s all computer. All of it. Of course, it has worksheets that you can print out for your child to work on, but aside from those, if you don’t supplement the program with written work, your child won’t get any. And by the end of the year, I noticed that my daughters handwriting skills had deteriorated. Severely.

To fix this problem, I added in workbook pages and sentences that we practiced each week. While those helped a lot, unfortunately, they also put pressure on our time to get everything done for each day. And that caused some problems.

Overall, I think that Time4Learning is a great program with a lot of pros.
